Written by Mohamed Shiil

Mogadishu, (insidesomalia.org) - Elders from the Eastern Sanaag region concluded their two week long conference at Bo’ame, 90km from Las Anood.

The conference which was attended by more than 200 delegates representing three main sub clans of Dhulbahante clan issued a statement used with a strong language against Somaliland Authorities.

The participants reached out that it is necessary that Dhulbahante clan members show unity and Somaliland forces should be withdrawn from Las Anood, which it’s troops invaded and annexed it on 15th of October this year, as the statement said.

The meeting which started on 13th of this month is the first of it’s kind attended even by prominent politicians and diaspora.

“We are not divided, we are working on our common interest, neither supporting Somaliland nor Puntland’ said one of organizers of the meeting speaking with anonymity to insidesomalia.org by telephone.

The participants of the conference seem to be unilateral against Somaliland due their position and language used by the elders who are mostly seen as sympathizers of Puntland.

The Dhulbahante clan, a dominant clan in Sanaag is always divided in between Somaliland and Puntland, who both claim that Sanaag region is part of their territory.

Dhulbahante Politicians are either members of Somaliland cabinet of ministers or Puntland State regional Authority ministers with out common stance.
